High amounts of influenza and RSV are circulating in Pierce County. If you have flu symptoms (fever, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, vomiting), please stay home until at least 24 hrs after fever is gone without using fever reducers (e.g. ibuprofen, acetaminophen). By that point, you likely aren’t contagious.
Please alert the clinic prior to your appointment if you have any of these symptoms. Our staff will ask you to wait in an exam room after you arrive to reduce exposure to others in the clinic. Flu and RSV can be life-threatening to newborns/infants and elderly adults.
We are also very happy, and in some cases prefer, to see patients via telehealth as an alternative.
With this much virus circulating, it’s important to follow public health guidelines to prevent the spread of disease, including masking in crowded settings and frequent handwashing.
To prevent infections in general, managing stress, getting plenty of sleep, staying hydrated, and eating a diet rich in antioxidants goes a long way. And, you can do everything right and still get sick. This is why we still recommend getting the flu, Covid-19, or RSV vaccines for those of appropriate age. We provide these free of cost for children 18 and under. For adults, these shots are available at most local pharmacies, including our best nextdoor neighbor, Rankos Pharmacy!
